About this blog:

A semi-random collection of pictures of various things in various places at various times - updated daily unless & until I run out of material...

All shots are taken by me and almost all with a Canon Powershot G9. As yet, I have no extra equipment or lenses to go with the camera, but I'm hoping this will change soon...

This is my main blog. For my art 'swaps', see:
here

About Quango-Bingo:

This is a simple game played by two or more people where words or phrases are 'traded' in turn by players.

Rules:

- All words/ phrases must have two syllables
- The second syllable must be an 'o' sound
- Repetition and hesitation are not allowed

For such a simple game, it can get quite tricky - especially if a lot of people are involved.

Moss explosion! (3 of 3)
Another wonderful thing about moss is that - if you leave something out in the open long enough - it’s Nature’s way of saying ‘This, too, shall be mine one day’.
Thank you all for your ‘likes’ and fantastic comments. The Dales series will carry on, but it gets a bit more abstract (and a bit less green) from now on.

Moss explosion! (2 of 3)

One of my favourite things about moss is the way it looks against stone (or wood) - which is rather handy really :)

Say what you like, but the world can never have too much moss!

Jigsawed
This one’s for Mr A - a man who appreciates a good wall when he sees one.
For those not in the know, the dry stone method of making walls dates back over 3,000 years and is at once beautifully simple and incredibly difficult. At high altitudes, where trees and bushes are few and far between (and susceptible to sheep-related peril) field boundaries can be tricky - unless you live in an area where rocks are easy to come by and you have an eye for jigsaw puzzles.
No mortar is used in building the walls - just the rocks themselves, which are stacked in such a way as to fit snugly against each other. It takes a skilled eye to pick out the right rock from a pile of (on the face of it) very similar rocks and slot it into place. You also have to know where to put the tie stones and cope stones to ensure the wall’s stability.
Hats off to the dry stone wallers - good work, people!

A bit of green.
Sometimes - when the sun shines - the English countryside can be so beautiful.

Divided
Sorry guys. I missed a day :(
(and unless I get this up pretty quick, I’m in danger of missing another…)
I will try harder in future. Also: a HEAP of catching up to do…

Except for access
A couple of weekends ago, back near the beginning of this crazy time of work and parties, I was invited to join some friends for an adventure in the Yorkshire Dales.
It was a 30th birthday celebration and, all told, there were somewhere near 40 people staying in a couple of barns in a village at the end of a road in the hills. We stayed out there from Friday evening to Sunday morning…
… and there was much rejoicing!
The following series features some of the things I decided to point my camera at (there are, of course, many more photographs, but most of them aren’t any good and the rest are not for public consumption!)
Thank you Ms M for encouraging me to finaly put these up…
